The welterweight division is arguably the most stacked with quality in the UFC right now.
Tyron Woodley is currently the champion and in his most recent outings he has defended the belt against Stephen ‘Wonderboy’ Thompson (twice) and Demian Maia. Although not in the most exciting fashion, Woodley has stomped his authority as king of the division for the moment.
The ferocious Robbie Lawler is always a force to be reckoned with in the octagon and he is currently number one contender to the title he formerly owned.
Lethal fighters such as Jorge Masvidal, Rafael dos Anjos and the emerging Colby Colvington are all in the mix.
Then there is the prospect with a lot of hype surrounding him, particularly since his emphatic knockout victory over Donald ‘Cowoby’ Cerrone at the recent UFC Fight Night Gdansk, Darren Till.
Till went with the bold strategy of calling Wonderboy out since his recent burst into the stardome has really kicked in. However, Thompson’s coach and father has dismissed the idea that the rising Liverpudlian should be afforded a crack at the veteran that is Wonderboy so soon.
In the meantime, Gunnar Nelson has become somewhat of the forgotten man in the division since his loss to Santiago Ponzinibbio. That KO defeat was marred by an eye-gouging controversy.
If the UFC are looking for Till to be a headline act in his home country anytime soon, SBG Ireland head coach John Kavanagh says to look no further than his stable.
So Till needs an opponent for mega UK show…I have someone suitable and ready 😁 https://t.co/8kXRGsbXTh

Now this would be a fight to get MMA fans this side of the Atlantic excited.
