Grenoble’s Chris Farrell has managed to make a name for himself in France with Grenoble since leaving Ulster back in 2014.
The big 6 ft 5 in centre certainly has the physicality to make it in the Top 14, and has become an important weapon in Grenoble’s ability to cross the gain line. These attributes have not been lost on potential suitors, and I can reveal that Munster, Connacht and Saracens are all interested in signing the 16st 7lb centre.
Grenoble’s trouble, both on and off the field, have made Farrell’s exit far more likely. However, if he holds any ambitions of playing for Ireland in the near future, the 23 year old should really be considering taking up the offers proposed by either of the Irish provinces.
Nevertheless, at the present moment, it’s hard to tell who Farrell would chose to join. Munster will be in the market for a centre given that they will be unable to offer Francis Saili another contract, while Connacht will be hoping to add some quality after the departure of Robbie Henshaw.
For now though, Farrell appears to be in a position of strength, and could secure a good deal if both he and his agent play their cards right.
