Edinburgh have secured a place in the Pro14 quarter-final with a game to spare after Ulster failed to defeat Munster at Thomond Park on Saturday.

The province could only manage a 24-24 draw in Limerick despite a strong first half, but ten unanswered points by the home side gave Johann van Graan’s side a share of the spoils in their final regular league game of the season.

The draw leaves Ulster in fourth place in Conference B, two points behind Edinburgh but will of their games played.

Munster will face Edinburgh next weekend in their quarter final, with the winner coming up against Conference B winners Leinster in the semi-finals.

On the other side of the draw, Scarlets will come up against competition debutants Cheetahs in their quarter-final at Parc y Scarlets. The Welsh side finished level on points with Leinster after their Judgement Day victory over Dragons, but Leinster top the group (despite their comprehensive defeat at the hands of Connacht) thanks to their superior points difference.

The winner of that tie will face Conference A winners Glasgow Warriors at Scotsoun.
