Wasps Make Two Signings In Three Days With The Arrival Of Former Wallabies Hooker

Wasps are looking to kick-start their season when the Premiership gets back underway on November 17.

The competition takes a two week break due to the Anglo-Welsh Cup and the November internationals but you would imagine Wasps would have preferred to keep the Premiership fixtures coming after securing back-to-back wins over Harlequins (in the Champions Cup) and away to the Northampton Saints last weekend.

Dai Young’s side seemed to have turned a corner and they’ve been busy in the transfer market this week after announcing the signing of Nathan Charles on a three-month contract. Charles has made 83 appearances for the Western Force and recently had spells at Bath and Clermont. The 28-year-old made four appearances for the Wallabies in 2014 and Young is delighted to welcome the experienced forward to the club.

“We are pleased to be able to bring a player of Nathan’s abilities into the squad to bolster our options at hooker.

“With Tommy Taylor and Tom Cruse both side-lined, we have been short on experience and availability in that position and Nathan’s addition provides us with some needed back up in such a key area.

“I’m sure Nathan will add a lot to this group with his physicality and ability around the park, as well as at the set piece. We’re looking forward to him joining up with the rest of the squad this week.”

This comes off the back of the short-term signing of Springbok flanker, Nizaam Carr, which was announced on Monday.
