Marland Yarde Left Out Of Harlequins Team Due To “Disciplinary Matter”

LYON, FRANCE - MAY 13:Marland Yarde looks dejected during the European Rugby Challenge Cup Final match between Harlequins and Montpellier at Stade de Lyon on May 13, 2016 in Lyon, France.

Harlequins go up against Wasps in the weekend’s final Champions Cup clash and both sides will be desperate for a victory at the Ricoh Arena.

Both sides suffered defeats in the opening round last weekend. Wasps lost away to Ulster at the Kingspan Stadium in Belfast while Quins lost at home to Stade Rochelais who are currently leading Ulster in France.

Such is the unforgiving nature of this competition both sides know that a victory is vital to their ambitions of reaching the knockout stages of the tournament.

Unfortunately for Quins, their task of coming away with a victory in Coventry just got a whole lot more difficult with the news that star winger, Marland Yarde, will not be involved in today’s match, despite being named to start when the team was announced on Friday.

The club have confirmed that he has been left out due to an “internal disciplinary matter.” Here is the full statement from the club:

Charlie Walker starts on the right wing after Marland Yarde was withdrawn from the squad following an internal disciplinary matter. The Club will make no further comment on this.

Quins have been forced to make two further changes to their team with Will Collier and George Merrick both failing fitness tests. They have been replaced by Phil Swainston and Dino Lamb, respectively.
