Munster Fans Bemoan Disappointing Performance Against Clinical Scarlets

Munster’s ambitions of winning their fourth Pro12 title were torn to pieces on Saturday evening by a clinical Scarlets outfit.

Having finished the season strongly with three victories, the southern province went into the game high on confidence but were bettered on the day that mattered most by their Welsh counterparts.

Early tries from Liam Williams, Steff Evans and Gareth Davies gave Scarlets a commanding early lead and from there any sort of comeback appeared to be doomed.

Tyler Bleyendaal’s try just before the break gave the Irish team hope but DTH van der Merwe’s try all but ended any hope of a revival, even when Andrew Conway reduced the deficit after crossing the line just minutes later.

A Keith Earls try further reduced Scarlets’ lead but the damage had already been done in the first half and Williams’ second try was the icing on the cake for Wayne Pivac’s men as they claimed the 2016/17 Pro12 title.

One of the main themes amongst Munster supporters on Twitter in the aftermath of the game was that their side just hadn’t done enough on the day.

Others were quick to congratulate Scarlets on a job well done.
