Earlier today I was to confirm that Ultan Dillane has signed a contract with Munster and I can now also exclusively reveal that he will be joined at Thomond Park by long-time target Chris Farrell.
In bringing in both players, Rassie Erasmus and his Munster colleagues have shown a clear determination to return the Reds to winning ways and, despite Saturday’s loss to Leinster in Dublin, there have been some green shoots of promise already this campaign.
The addition of Dillane, therefore, and now also a classy and dangerous centre in Farrell will add much needed promise to the squad.
At 6ft 5, Farrell has made a name for himself in the Top 14 with Grenoble and under Bernard Jackson’s watchful eye, having previously spent three years at Ulster.
Local rivals Connacht and Aviva Premiership pacesetters Saracens were also interested in signing the 23-year-old, who has played for Ireland’s U20s side at inside centre. Fortunately for Erasmus, he settled on the team in red and will look to forge his way into Ireland reckoning once again in the coming years.
