When James Haskell finally lined out for Wasps at the weekend, it was the culmination of seven months of recovery from a toe injury sustained while on England duty against Australia.
Coming off the bench against the Leicester Tigers in their Aviva Premiership fixture, the back-row forward lasted the whole of 40 seconds before coming a cropper when attempting to tackle Tigers’ fullback Freddie Burns.
Managing to knock himself out cold, Haskell ended up face down in the turf with his backside in the air. Despite leaving the field looking a little worse for wear, it has since been revealed the England international suffered no ill effects from his clumsy challenge and will be fine, once he completes the required return to play protocols.
Now, following the short-lived and somewhat embarrassing return, the 31-year-old has found himself on the receiving end of a vicious trolling online. The perpetrator of the abuse? None other than Haskell’s own girlfriend.
Luckily, Haskell sees the funny side of things, posting this to his own Facebook profile.
It’s certainly good to see the England international can smile over his unfortunate mishap and we wish him a speedy, if more tempered, return to the Wasps lineup.
