TBT: O’ Gara winning drop-goal v Northampton

Dave Gantly remembers Ronan O’ Gara’s match-winning drop-goal vs Northamptopn Saints in 2011.

With Munster’s Heineken Cup Quarter Final fast approaching this Sunday at the Stoop against Harlequins, we look back at one of Munster’s greatest recent wins in the competition.

At Thomond Park on the 12th of November 2011, Munster were losing 21 – 20 to the Northampton Saints coming in to the 77th minute.

What followed was typical Munster. Perseverance. Dedication. 41 remarkable phases resulted in Munster fly half Ronan O’Gara kicking a drop goal in the 83rd minute to give Munster a famous win. Munster will need more of the same if they are to get a positive result this Sunday.
