Scotland’s John Hardie Suspended Over Alleged Drug Use

New Zealand born Scottish international John Hardie was suspended last week due to an investigation into alleged cocaine use according to British media reports.

The Scottish Rugby Union released a statement last Friday regarding his suspension from club and country but failed to provide a reason.

The former Highlander arrived in Scotland in 2015 and qualified in the same year to represent the country through one of his grandparents.

Since his debut, Hardie has earned 15 caps and was a standout performer at the 2015 Rugby World Cup.

The Scotsman reported on Monday:

“The 29-year-old has not failed a drugs test, but was suspended pending an inquiry after a concerned individual got in touch with Murrayfield to report his alleged behaviour”.

Hardie’s suspension comes as an added blow to Scottish Rugby after Edinburgh club captain Magnus Bradbury was stood down after sustaining a head injury on a night out.

There is no word on when the suspension will be lifted at this time
