Last week, Floyd Mayweather Jr. posted a video of Conor McGregor tapping out to Nate Diaz on his official Instagram account.
Underneath the footage, ‘Money’ Mayweather offered $10,000 to the person who could come up with the best caption.
This came in a week when Mayweather also threatened to “slap the shit” out of the Irishman, claimed that he had spoken to UFC president Dana White about the possibility of a crossover bout, and skyped McGregor’s March conqueror, the aforementioned Diaz.
The supposedly retired boxer obviously had ‘The Notorious’ one very much on his mind.
Mayweather’s antics drew little response from the other side.
However, Igor Micic recently caught up with McGregor’s head coach John Kavanagh and asked the SBG Ireland founder what he thought of Mayweather’s caption contest.
“I think it would be more interesting if he came up with a date or contract for a fight,” said Kavanagh. “That would be more interesting.”
Kavanagh, who had an insanely busy weekend, working the corner of eight fighters at the BAMMA/Bellator show in Dublin before travelling to Croatia to assist Luka Jelcic at Final Fight Championship 27, was also asked about the possibility of McGregor vs Diaz 3 taking place under boxing rules and if his top-fighter will test free agency at some point in the future.
