Eddie Alvarez Shows Extraordinary Class After Hearing About Severely Injured GAA Star

Eddie Alvarez has shown his extraordinary class once again…

Most Irish sports fans will know Eddie Alvarez from his UFC 205 clash with Conor McGregor last November. However, unlike most of the Dubliner’s opponents, Alvarez left the arena with a huge amount of admiration from McGregor’s army.

In defeat in Madison Square Garden, the former lightweight champion made no excuses, congratulated McGregor and simply stated that the better man had won on the night.

It was far from the first time that the ‘Underground King’ had shown his class and, in responding to a tweet last week, Alvarez once again showed what he is made of.

From Clonoe in County Tyrone, Aaron Elliot was severely injured when he was struck by a car in Philidelphia on August 26th. Described as an influential member of the Philadelphia GAA, the Irishman is now facing a long and difficult road to recovery as he battles on in the Abington Memorial Hospital.

Without health insurance, the Elliot family are also facing a huge bill as they look to ensure that Aaron receives the best treatment during a very difficult time.

With this in mind, a Go Fund Me page looking to help Aaron and his family with a massive health bill has been set up and the response so far has been overwhelming. (If you wish to donate – click here)

One name of particular note has taken a personal interest in Aaron’s battle as, having been tweeted about the campaign, Eddie Alvarez immediately responded, stating that he wanted to visit the injured GAA man in the hospital.

It’s just a small gesture, but when Alvarez could just as easily have ignored the tweet, it truly shows the MMA star’s class that he immediately reached out and wants to take the time to visit the injured Kevin Barry’s man.

Note: The fundraiser is now at 50% of its target, please donate whatever you can to help the Elliot family with their massive health bill
