UFC veteran Frankie Edgar has released a hilarious video of himself updating on his status following groin surgery and if nothing else, it shows the man has one wicked sense of humour.
The former lightweight champion and ever-present featherweight contender had been carrying a nagging groin for a while and having failed to make the card for UFC 209 in March, decided to go under the knife to sort it out, once and for all.
Following the surgery, the New Jersey native took to Instagram and, while still appearing to be somewhat under the influence of pain medication or anaesthesia, gave fans a very matter-of-fact update on his condition.
It’s not often fans get to see a fighter with their guard down and in this instance it is pure comedy gold.
Now 35, Edgar is entering the twilight of a glittering career and it is hoped that with his surgery a success, he can focus on a speedy return to the octagon.
With the featherweight division now reinvigorated with the ascension of Max Holloway to interim-champion and the ever present Jose Aldo as champion, there is much for Edgar to fight for before he finally hangs up the gloves.
Surely there is fuel in the tank for a tilt at Holloway and then, if victorious, a final fight with Aldo?
Get well soon Frankie.
