‘Game of Thrones’ star and world-class strongman Hafthor Bjornsson claims that he could have “crushed” UFC star Conor McGregor during their infamous sparring session had he chosen to.
Bjornsson, who plays the mountain on the hit TV show based on the books of George R. R. Martin, moved around a little with McGregor at SBG Concorde when the Irishman was preparing to face Jose Aldo in a featherweight title unification match at UFC 194 in December of 2015. A video of their workout emerged soon after and quickly went viral. The session was clearly light and, as McGregor would say, flowy. The then UFC interim featherweight champion danced about, peppering the part man, part geographical feature to the body, while Bjornsson stalked him. After three minutes or so, the pair embraced, shared a chuckle and that was that.
Speaking to RT Sport recently, Bjornsson recalled the session, which he described as a “joke”, but he then gave a rather blunt assessment of what would have happened if he hadn’t reined himself in somewhat.
“I had to hold myself back because I have too much power for a man his size,” Bjornsson said matter of factly. “If I would push all my power in to him, I would crush him. Crush him.”
Hey, maybe Bjornsson, who has made the podium at ‘The World’s Strongest Man’ competition every year since 2012, stands 6’9 and weighs over 400lbs, is looking to land himself a red panty night.
