Michael Bisping certainly knows what it’s like to come back from a UFC defeat and having witnessed Cody Garbrandt suffer his first loss in the promotion at UFC 217, the 38-year-old took some time to offer some words of consolation.
Heading into UFC 217, Joanna Jedrzejczyk, Cody Garbrandt and Michael Bisping were all favourites to win their respective bouts at Madison Square Garden.
However, a shock upset was waiting in each of the three main events as Rose Namjunes KO’d Joanna Jedrzejczyk, TJ Dillashaw stopped Cody Garbrandt and Michael Bisping was choked out by Georges St-Pierre.
Speaking after the event, Bisping confirmed that he would fight on despite the retirement confusion that circled him while Garbrandt stated that he would be looking for an immediate rematch with TJ Dillashaw as he stated that he still believed he was the superior fighter.
However, the pair will undoubtedly have a tough road ahead as they come to terms with the emphatic defeats they suffered at UFC 217 and, during a post-fight interview with Megan Olivi, there was a touching moment between the two UFC stars as they consoled one another after their respective defeats.
