Various members of the Mayweather boxing gym gave their predictions on how exactly a mixed martial arts bout between their man Floyd and the UFC’s lightweight champion Conor McGregor would go down.
With us now well into February, we are approaching exactly six months since the worlds of both boxing and MMA grouped together for one night as the each sport’s biggest star competed in a truly unique event in the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.
The hype surrounding August’s showdown between Floyd Mayweather and Conor McGregor sent both the fans and the media into a frenzy that we will be hard-pressed to experience again in our lifetimes.
And while the fight itself was entertaining when taken at face value, there certainly was a feeling of emptiness left in the combat sports world when all was said and done.
The very fact that this event took place was truly indicative of the world we live in today. It was stressed on many occasions that the two were paired together because the demand from the fans was simply too heavy to ignore but understandably, the ‘Money Fight’ will go down as one of the most divisive sporting spectacles of all-time.
Now, despite the fact that both boxing and MMA have moved on, the link that has been formed between Mayweather and McGregor appears to be as prevalent in the public eye as ever.
With Floyd now apparently looking at taking on the Irishman inside the octagon (a possibility that does seem a bit far-fetched for the famously selective former-champion), there is some genuine concern that this entire circus is on the verge of returning to town – bringing with it an eventual match-up that could well amount to an absolute embarrassment for the boxer in question.
Jeff Mayweather spoke to several members of the Mayweather boxing gym in a recent video and asked them exactly how they saw such a bout playing out and to their credit, they – for the most part – do not allow their biases to infringe on what should be a pretty straightforward pick.
