It would appear as though a trailer for the upcoming EA Sports UFC 3 video game just dropped a major clue about the identity of Conor McGregor’s next opponent.

EA Sports have released the first teaser trailer for the latest installment in their UFC series and despite the fact that the trailer is only 12 seconds in length, it appears to spill the beans on the fighter who Conor McGregor will face in his next octagon appearance.

Did you catch that?

For those who didn’t, here’s a screen grab of Conor McGregor facing off with what is undoubtedly Tony Ferguson – a shot that only lasts a split second but is a telling one nonetheless.

It’s a known fact that the UFC are heavily involved with the production of this series and for them to put a faceoff between two fighters so heavily linked to facing each other is a sure sign that the ongoing negotations that Conor alluded to recently are going smoothly.

For Ferguson, as the interim-title holder, one would assume this was the fight to make but despite this, the presence of Nate Diaz and the trilogy bout he seems destined for with McGregor was always a viable – though admittedly less appealing – option.

It’s not an official confirmation but it is most certainly a good sign that the UFC were willing to stick their neck out like this, something that wouldn’t make sense if the fight was in any way in doubt.
