Breaking: Jimmy Smith Added To UFC’s 2018 Broadcast Lineup

Bellator’s former colour-commentator Jimmy Smith has officially signed with the UFC just weeks after announcing his departure from their biggest rival.

Earlier this month it emerged that Bellator MMA’s longtime colour-commentator Jimmy Smith would be walking away from the promotion after reportedly failing to reach an agreement during contract negotiations.

Of course, in the days that followed that news, the legendary referee ‘Big’ John McCarthy was brought in by Bellator as a replacement to accompany Mike Goldberg as this year gets underway and now, it has been confirmed the UFC have signed Smith to bolster their ranks for 2018.

Smith brings a wealth of experience in both the booth and the cage to the table and will likely join Jon Anik, Joe Rogan, Daniel Cormier, Dominick Cruz and the others in dividing up the promotion’s heavy schedule over the coming months.

With MMAFighting‘s Ariel Helwani reporting that Smith will take a role on the FS1 desk for this month’s UFC 220, expect confirmation on his duties within the promotion as we edge closer to January 20’s event.
