Cork City will play Rosenborg in the third round of the Europa League qualifiers after the Norweigan outfit fell to a 3-1 aggregate loss to Celtic in the Champions League.
Rosenborg faced an uphill battle when they welcomed the Scottish champions to the Lerkendal Stadion after losing the first leg 3-0 in Glasgow. A 0-0 second leg result confined their exit from the Champions League and into the Europa League.
John Caufield’s Cork City, who themselves were knocked out of Champions League qualification at the hands of Legia Warsaw, will now hope to beat their Norweigan opponents to secure a spot in the Europa League playoffs, the last round before the group stages.
Cork will now take on Rosenborg in the first leg next Thursday 9th August which will be held at Turners Cross and the return leg will take place a week later at the Lerkendal Stadion in Trondheim on August 16th.
