Watch: Cora Staunton Makes Blistering Start To Her Aussie Rules Spell

Mayo legend Cora Staunton made a fine start to her Aussie Rules career on Saturday morning.

The four-time All-Ireland winner scored two goals as her club Greater Western Sydney Giants stormed to a 50-point victory over the Brisbane Lions.

Both goals were extremely well-taken too, as Staunton battled the heat to hit the ground running in her introduction to the AFL:

The Greater Western Sydney Giants were equally impressed with her opening game, jokingly asking the LGFA if they can keep her around even after her time in Australia officially comes to an end:

Staunton herself was slightly critical performance, despite the tough conditions, but enjoyed it nonetheless:

“It was very tough. It’s a lot different to what I expected. It’s more physical and I probably wouldn’t be as used to that at home,” she said.

“There are plenty of things to work on, plenty of mistakes, but I enjoyed it.”
