The All-Ireland Football Championship Round 2 Qualifier Draw Has Been Made

INPHO/Morgan Treacy

The draw for the second round qualifiers of the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship has been made on Monday morning, and has thrown up a number of interesting ties.

The draw sees the eight losing provincial semi-finalists – namely Carlow, Leitrim, Down, Clare,  Longford, Sligo, Monaghan and Tipperary – enter ball 2 to join the winners of last weekend’s round qualifiers – Armagh, Cavan, Kildare, Louth, Mayo, Offaly, Tyrone and Waterford – in bowl 1 to make up the sixteen-team draw.

Arguably the pick of the draw sees Mayo travel to Thurles to face Tipperary. Last year’s beaten All-Ireland finalists overcame Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds on Saturday in a high-scoring game, and will be on the road south to Munster once again as they look to go one better than last year’s Championship season.

The draw in full is as follows:

Tipperary v Mayo

Waterford v Monaghan

Cavan v Down

Carlow v Tyrone

Offaly v Clare

Longford v Kildare

Sligo v Armagh

Leitrim v Louth

The clashes will take place on the weekend of the 23rd of June 2018.
