TV Details For The Rest Of The GAA Championships

Now that we have hit mid-July, we are are at the business end of the GAA championships. There are just six counties left in the hunt for the Liam MacCarthy Cup while 14 teams are still involved in the race for Sam Maguire.

Armchair fans will be glad to know that from here on out, the rest of the championship games will be screened live on television.

There was plenty of controversy to go around last weekend. Between Michael Duignan’s rant against the Sky Sports deal, to people being upset that only two out of eight games on Saturday were broadcast live, this is a contentious issue for everyone involved.

The two provincial finals this weekend are both on RTÉ as the state broadcaster have exclusive rights to all these deciders.

However, out of the 20 games left in both codes in Championship 2017 (assuming there will be no replays), eight of them are exclusive to Sky Sports.

Fans of the small ball may be pleased to hear that RTÉ will be showing every remaining game in the hurling championship. However, as pointed out by John Fogarty, over half of the rest of the football games are exclusive to Sky Sports.

The semi-finals and finals in both codes will be shown live by both RTÉ and Sky Sports.
