All The Results From The Weekend’s Biggest Club GAA Fixtures

Twenty teams became just eleven in the quest for the All-Ireland Club SFC as some of the biggest names in the sport collided over an action-packed sporting weekend.

With Ireland involved in rugby, soccer and international rules, it is easy to overlook the club GAA action, but there were a number of enticing clashes all over the country this weekend.

However, Gaelic football was grabbing all the limelight as Rathnew of Wicklow defeated the mighty St Vincents in a stunning win in Aughrim.

This result has completely opened up the Leinster Championship and may even have teams from other provinces licking their lips as one of the top teams in the country is out of the race for national honours.

The first battle of the weekend saw the Slaughneil juggernaut keep going in full flow as they defeated Kilcar of Donegal, whose brave effort fell just short.

The Derry champions will look for another Ulster title but will have to wait to find out their opponents as Cavan Gaels and Derrygonnelly ended in a draw after 80 minutes of football.

We do know the final pairings in Munster and Connacht after Sunday’s action, however.

Castlebar Mitchels will take on Corofin of Galway as both teams progressed.

The Tribesmen needed extra time and a moment of magic to see a passage to the provincial final.

Down south, Dr Crokes and Nemo Rangers are set for a clash of the titans in the Munster final after both enjoyed big wins over opposition from Clare and Limerick respectively.

While in Leinster, while the Wicklow champions will get all the headlines, there were noteworthy wins for Moorefield and St Lomans while Simonstown Gaels of Meath will also fancy their chances as they reached the last four with a big win over Wexford side Starlights.
