Watch: RTÉ’s Poetic Ireland – Denmark Montage Will Reduce You To A Quivering Mess

RTÉ Sport must want us all to descend into a fit of raving mania out of sheer anticipation.

Just hours away from the second leg of the Republic of Ireland’s World Cup playoff with Denmark, the national broadcaster have dropped a montage that features clips of Ray Houghton putting the ball in the English net at Euro 88, Dave O’Leary slotting the ball home from the penalty spot before collapsing to his knees at Italia 90, Houghton sending Giants Stadium into raptures in the summer of 94, Robbie Keane’s late, late heroics against Germany in 2002, Robbie Brady’s header in Lille just last year and James McClean’s oh so crucial goal against Wales in October, as George Hamilton roars with joy and Brendan flippin’ Gleeson reads Dylan bloody Thomas to atmospheric music.

Lads, some of us still have work to do.
