Ireland rescued a late point against Austria on Sunday, but it could, and perhaps should, have been all three.
With the Boys in Green soaring after Jonathan Walters’ late leveller, Shane Duffy thought he’d headed home the winner after a scramble in the Austrian defence, only for the referee to rule it out.
From the jaws of defeat, Ireland will feel that the goal should have stood – and many on social media were quick to disagree with the referee’s decision.
Absolutely nothing wrong with the Shane Duffy goal poor Austrian defending ,Republic should be three points behind Serbia .

The point earned against Austria still keeps today’s opponents at bay, still looking on a decent course for the World Cup – though many will still feel perhaps that two points were dropped in Dublin on Sunday.
