Manchester United got their pre-season tour off to the best possible start in the early hours of Sunday morning with a commanding victory over LA Galaxy.
Jose Mourinho surprised many by omitting Romelu Lukaku, Paul Pogba and Victor Lindelof. Instead, the Special One opted for a 3-5-1-1 formation with Marcus Rashford leading the line in front of Juan Mata.
It didn’t take long for the Reds to get off the mark with Rashford finding the net within just 2 minutes. The nineteen-year-old grabbed his second soon after brilliant work by Ander Herrera. The Basque was involved again in the build-up for the third in a fine move that ended in Marouane Fellaini rifling home from the edge of the box.

After the break, United continued to create countless chances and eventually started to take them. Henrikh Mkhitaryan was on the scoresheet around the hour mark before Anthony Martial capitalised on some fine work by Timothy Fosu-Mensah to make it five.
The hosts then pulled two back, both through Giovanni Dos Santos, in the final minutes.
The game ended 5-2 but frankly, Mourinho’s charges could have hit double numbers if they really put their foot to the floor. Next up for the Reds is Real Salt Lake on Monday.
