Manchester United: Eye-Watering Personal Terms ‘Promised’ To Griezmann [Report]

It is well known by now that Manchester United are admirers of Atletico Madrid man Antoine Griezmann, but it looks as though we now know just how much money the Old Trafford club are willing to put where their mouth is.

The striker is understandably one of the most sought after attackers in Europe, largely down to his superb campaign in La Liga last season, his performances at the Euros over the summer as well as his displays so far this term. The 25-year-old has already bagged six goals and laid on four assists in 15 league games this season.

And now, according to The Sun, Griezmann is set to be offered a staggering deal by the Red Devils. The tabloid report that during talks with the player’s representatives this week the frontman was ‘promised’ the same deal as United record signing Paul Pogba – £220,000-a-week.

With the personal terms surely very appealing to the player, the one major stumbling block in negotiations would likely be the fee to Atletico, with the club said to be holding out for the France international’s £86 million release clause. However, the red top do point out that United could use current players as currency in any deal.

With all this said however, Griezmann himself only last month stated that his future lies in the Spanish capital. As is the way with football these days though, exemplified by offers put forward by Chinese Super League clubs, money can change players’ minds extremely quickly.

With a corner seemingly being turned in the revival of Manchester United of late, the Frenchman’s potential arrival could just be the key ingredient in making United viable title contenders throughout next season.

The prospect of having Pogba, Griezmann, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Juan Mata, Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford all on the same side for the 2017/18 campaign must be truly frightening for United’s top four rivals.

It now looks as though the 20-time top flight winners are willing to pull out all the stops to sign their man.
