All The Best Images From A Historic Night For Ireland

The Republic of Ireland secured their place in the World Cup play-offs next month following a hard-fought 1-0 win over Wales in Cardiff on Monday night.

Ahead of the game, the task was clear for both sides: win and you’re 180 minutes from next summer’s World Cup.

In the end it was the Boys in Green who ultimately prevailed with some tenacious play from Jeff Hendrick down the right-hand side leading to James McClean’s unstoppable strike from just inside the box.

Sending the Ireland fans behind that very goal into raptures, it was a historic moment in Irish footballing history and one that will not be forgotten quickly.

But before we look ahead to the play-offs, let’s take a moment to savour some of the best images from what was a memorable night in the Welsh capital.
