Ireland are reportedly set to secure the services of young Bayern Munich star Ryan Johansson.

The Times Ireland edition are reporting that Johansson, whose mother is from Westmeath, has decided that he will declare for the Boys in Green despite previously playing at an underage level for Sweden.

Johansson was born in Luxembourg to a Swedish father and he recently made his debut for Bayern Munich in their pre-season victory over PSG.

He is expected to be called up to the under-18 squad after being checked out by Paul Osam.

Johansson won the under-17 Bundesliga with Bayern last season after signing from FC Metz last year.

The young midfielder who was profiled by Pundit Arena last year plays a central role primarily but can also feature in a right-back role as he did against PSG.
