Aiden McGeady on Saturday afternoon displayed some absolute brilliance to set up Callum Robinson for Preston North End’s lead goal against Arsenal.
The Irish international winger showed some quick feet and an outrageous turn before feeding striker Jordan Hugill, whose collision with an Arsenal defender meant the ball fell neatly to Robinson who finished sublimely.
With the Scottish-born player a much criticised figure by Irish fans, hopefully this will show the quality that he still possesses.
Having gone ahead early on Preston were always going to have to defend what they had for much of the rest of the game, and despite a poor first half showing from Arsenal their talent eventually shone through with a 46th minute Aaron Ramsey goal followed up Olivier Giroud’s last gasp strike to steal a lucrative replay at the Emirates away from the Lancashire outfit.
Arsene Wenger’s men will learn who they are to face in the next round following Monday night’s fourth round draw, which will be broadcast on BT Sport 2 at around 7:10pm ahead of the final FA Cup third round match-up between Cambridge United and Leeds United.
