Four Danes Ireland Will Need To Be Wary Of In The Play-Offs

Ireland have drawn Denmark in the play-offs for the 2018 World Cup finals. Although a favourable draw, we examine four key men for the Danes.

With the first leg taking place in Copenhagen, it is vitally important that Martin O’Neill can negate the threat posed by this quartet before bringing them back to Dublin with a spot at Russia 2018 on the line.

Kasper Dolberg (Ajax)

Still only 20, Dolberg is one of the highest rated young strikers in Europe. Dolberg was instrumental in Ajax’s road to last season’s Europa League final. He bears a striking playing resemblance to a young Ruud van Nistelrooy and will hope to add to his one international goal against Ireland.

 _____

Christian Eriksen (Tottenham Hotspur)

The Danish Golden Boy, Eriksen has been in cracking form for his country. Many Danes feel that the Spurs man has somewhat carried his side in the past year and his ability should not be underestimated. Premier League fans will know all about Eriksen – and how good he can be.

_____

Simon Kjaer (Sevilla)

Denmark’s captain was once one of the most sought-after young defenders in Europe. The Danes have only conceded six goals in the last year with Kjaer marshalling the defence. he is also a big threat from set pieces.

_____

Pione Sisto (Celta Vigo)

Not an automatic starter but showed last season against Manchester United that he can be a real handful. A pacey and tricky winger, Sisto has a big future ahead of him.
