Barcelona may have won 2-1 against Getafe today but the game will be remembered by many for a sensational goal scored by Getafe’s Gaku Shibasaki.
The Japanese midfielder gave his side the lead just before half-time with an absolutely wonderful volley from Markel Bergara’s knock-down which nearly took the net off as it flew past Marc Andre Ter Stegen into the top right corner and sent the supporters into raptures.
Shibasaki was threatening throughout and caused some real problems for Ernesto Valverde’s side before going off with injury. Denis Suarez equalised in style for Barca before Paulinho grabbed the winner six minutes from time in what was a real hard-fought victory for Lionel Messi and co.
Despite the result, Shibasaki’s strike was certainly the highlight of the game. The 25-year old’s first goal for his new club was something special – and he’ll probably never score a better one for the rest of his career.
There is simply no saving that. As Andy Gray would say – take a bow son.
