Cristiano Ronaldo is facing an insane ban for that shove on Ricardo De Burgos Bengoetxea after the referee included it in his match report.
Cristiano Ronaldo had a mental cameo in the Spanish Super Cup last night as the Portuguese international scored a screamer, got booked for his celebration and was then sent off for diving.
Things could be about to get much, much worse for Ronaldo however as, after being shown the red card during the Super Cup Clasico, the 31-year-old then slightly shoved the referee as his frustration got the better of him.
Article 96 of the Spanish federation’s rule book states that any player who “grabs, pushes or shakes” a referee in a manner that is even “slightly violent” should receive a ban of between four to 12 matches.
Although some would have hoped that the incident might have been dismissed by the man in charge on the night, Marca have now reported that the referee was sure to include the shove in his match report apparently stating;
Once the red card was shown, the player pushed me slightly in a sign of disagreement.
Check out his screamer and the incident involving the referee once again in the clips below…
