Burnley Release Statement Regarding Severity Of Robbie Brady Injury

INPHO/James Crombie

Burnley FC have released an official statement after Republic of Ireland midfielder Robbie Brady suffered a nasty knee injury in Burnley’s weekend defeat to Leicester City.

In the moments that followed the injury, it was evident that there was immediate concern for the Irish international and, after Brady was stretchered off the pitch, Burnley manager Sean Dyche stated that he instantly had the feeling that the injury was “more serious than not serious”.

Now, The Clarets have released an official statement on their star winger and unfortunately, Dyche’s initial assessment was correct with Brady set to undergo surgery and will be out for a ‘substantial’ period of time.

Robbie Brady is to undergo knee surgery and faces a ‘substantial’ time out of action.

Brady injured his left knee during the Clarets’ 1-0 defeat at Leicester City last Saturday.

He has since been under medical assessment, with manager Sean Dyche confirming the winger sustained damage to his patellar tendon.

Dyche said: “Robbie will have surgery to repair a patellar tendon tear and will be out for a substantial recovery period.

“He will be given all the time and care he needs on his recovery and supported throughout from all of us at Burnley Football Club.”

The suggested recovery time from a patellar tendon tear is listed as 4-6 months meaning it is now unlikely that the 25-year-old will be seen togging out at Turf Moor again this season.

Heartbreaking news given the form that Brady has been in of late but we’re sure he will be back stronger than ever in time for next season and Ireland’s participation in the newly formed UEFA Nations League.

Get well soon, Robbie.
