As The Odds Plummet On Van Gaal Taking Over At Everton, Fans Are Making Their Views Perfectly Clear

The odds on former Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal taking over at Everton have plummeted dramatically over the last 24 hours, leading to fans at the Merseyside club taking to social media en masse to voice their opinion on the Dutchman.

When Van Gaal took over from David Moyes at Manchester United back in 2014, fans were hopeful that he could lead the Red Devils out of a monumental post-Alex Ferguson era slump that saw Moyes’ five-year managerial deal evaporate after less than a season.

Alas, for the now 66-year-old a period of almost knee-jerk transfer acquisitions, compounding similar spending by Moyes, led to the team become a mere shadow of the great side that reigned over the Premier League as recently as 2013.

Though he did deliver the FA Cup in 2016, the United board confirmed the worst kept secret in Premier League managerial history and announced Jose Mourinho as Van Gaal’s replacement, only days after he delivered silverware.

Now, two years on, could we be about to see the somewhat eccentric Dutchman make a return to the Premier League with Everton?

While he would certainly bring a unique theatricality to the league, fans of the Toffees are taking to Twitter to express their feelings at the thought of Van Gaal steering the floundering ship.

Others were more optimistic.

And then there is this.

With odds dipping as low as 3/1 on Monday evening and reports from fans saying he has been spotted in the area in the last 24 hours, could it be that the Dutchman is set for a return to the Premier League?

Time will tell.
