Twitter Reacts As Cristiano Ronaldo Adds FIFA Award To His Ballon D’Or

To the surprise of absolutely nobody, Cristiano Ronaldo claimed the top prize at FIFA’s “The Best” ceremony on Monday evening.

The 31-year-old forward claimed the award having been part of the Real Madrid and Portugal sides that both tasted European glory,, adding the FIFAΒ Men’s Best Player award to the Ballon d’Or he picked up last month.

Ronaldo saw off competition from fierce rival Lionel Messi, as well as AtlΓ©tico Madrid’s Antonie Griezmann, to claim the first Men’s Best award since FIFA broke away from France Football’s Ballon d’Or to set up their own honour system.

Every FIFA-member nation’s manager and captain had a vote – the breakdown of whichΒ will be made freely available by the organisation.

Social media was on hand to reflect on the Year of Ronaldo:
