Well, it doesn’t look like the production line in Barcelona is going to stop churning out gems anytime soon…
La Masia, Barca’s academy, is renowned for producing world class talent.
Famed for training the likes of Lionel Messi, Xavi and Andreas Iniesta through their youth, giving them their priceless football education, the academy is globally recognised as the best in the world. Those three players were key to the club’s domination of European football towards the end of the noughties. In 2010, Messi, Xavi and Iniesta made up the top three players in the world in the Ballon d’Or voting, having all come through the esteemed Barcelona youth academy.
In a game over the weekend there was further evidence that La Masia is the best at what it does in terms of propelling young, talented footballers into world class professionals.
A Barca youth team were taking on Villarreal in Spain and it was a time for the Nou Camp youngsters to showcase their excellence.
Thankfully there were cameras present at the game to capture the amazing goal of one Masia prospect. Their captain clearly takes his role of leading by example seriously, as he notched this goal that everyone in attendance would have been telling all their friends and family about when they got home. In the 40th minute of the game, the Barca player unleashed a thunderbolt from his own half catching the opposition keeper unawares.
We will surely be seeing more of this player in the future on the big stage. Even from this clip alone, it is not hard to tell that he has special capabilities, along with copious other young Masia footballers.
This one had shades of Beckham vs. Wimbledon about it. Was it even better than the Englishman’s legendary Premier League strike? We’ll let you be the judge of that.
Check out the sublime finish in the clip below:
