Seven games into the current campaign we already know the two Manchester giants lead the way while the usual suspects like Chelsea, Tottenham and Arsenal are still well within the mix.
Now, however, statistics website Squawka have crunched the numbers and calculated the sides which would top the Premier League table if only games played in 2017 were to be counted.
While the perception may be that clubs such as the champions Chelsea have done enough to top this table (below) ahead of, say Tottenham it is in the fact the White Hart Lane outfit that scoops top prize following their white-hot finish to last season which kept the Blues on their toes, particularly in the final month of the campaign.

Elsewhere, Manchester United are clearly the most solid side defensively while Spurs again come in top for goals scored just ahead of this season’s early leaders, City, while slow starters such as Everton and Swansea could only dream of being this far up the actual Premier League table at the moment.
While the international break halts proceedings, for the time being, the Premier League will burst back into life on October 14 with the meeting of Liverpool and United at Anfield in a game which will have serious implications on the league’s complexion come the end of that weekend.
