Manchester United have moved quickly to kick off their summer transfer activity, having reached an agreement with Espanyol over the signing of wonderkid Arnau Puigmal.
Leading Spanish newspaper, Sport, have reported that the Espanyol academy sensation will be on his way to Old Trafford once the summer transfer window opens.
Puigmal is currently playing his football with Espanyol’s Cadete A side and has emerged as one of the hottest prospects in Spain. United scouts have been hugely impressed with the 16-year-old and jumped at the opportunity to bring the youngster to Manchester.
It is said that there is big money involved in the deal, leaving the player, his family and representatives in no doubt whether to accept the English club’s offer or not.
Puigmal is highly regarded in Spanish quarters and has shown potential to be a real star, most notably collecting the accolade of MVP at the Mediterranean International Cup, where he also scored against Barcelona.
Dubbed as a physical and versatile midfielder, who can go box to box aswell as finishing well in the opposition box, the teenager could well prove to be a star for Jose Mourinho’s side in years to come.
This could be the beginning of a busy summer of activity at Old Trafford in the transfer market, with fans understandably left feeling dismayed with a sixth place finish in the league. Mourinho has stated his belief that the Red Devils will be more than capable of mounting a genuine title challenge next season, which would indicate that he is prepared to give his squad a make-over in attempt to build a league winning side.
