PSV have confirmed that they’ve had an inquiry from Manchester United about star player Memphis Depay.
Speaking on Dutch television, PSV technical director, Marcel Brands said:
‘We have had a telephone call from them about him,
But no talks have been held yet. There are several top clubs who have expressed an interest.
It will be much higher than the offer from Tottenham Hotspur. He will be very expensive.”
PSV have already wrapped up the Eredivisie title, claiming their first domestic league for the first time since 2008.
Depay has been the club’s outstanding performer and it is now inconceivable that he will not be moving on this coming summer with a host of Premier League clubs apparently interested.
This morning, Dutch paper De Telegraaf also reported that both Liverpool and French side PSG, have been given permission to start talks with Depay over a possible move.
De Telegraaf have also estimated that PSV are hoping to attract a fee of 25 to 30 million euros for their prize asset. However, with the market as it is, it is not inconceivable that the attacker will go for an even higher fee.
Depay has scored 20 goals from just 27 games this season. A hugely impressive stat from a man of just 21 years of age.
