A dire run of form for Henrikh Mkhitaryan has seen many fans call for him to be dropped from Jose Mourinho’s starting eleven.
The Armenian had a storming start to the season to match that of the other Red Devils alongside him. Five assists in his first three games, with two further goals in September, boded well for the former Borussia Dortmund star.
The increased creative burden in light of Paul Pogba’s injury however appears to have co-incided with a dramatic loss in form. Mkhitaryan has been culpable for United’s barren spell in front of goal, with Romelu Lukaku now without a goal in seven games.
A dreadful performance in today’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea is the last straw for some.
The Independent game him a match rating of ‘3’, claiming that ‘the game passed him by’. Speaking on Sky Sports, Jamie Carragher felt that United were ‘playing with ten men with him on the pitch’.
Others weren’t as reserved in their criticism.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been anonymous for weeks now. Needs to get his act together. A lack of a number 10 is hindering Manchester United.

Mkhitaryan is absolutely killing me. It's upsetting just how poor he has been this season.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan might struggle to get back into the Man Utd team after this latest horrible performance…not good enough it seems #MUFC

I'm very sad about how terrible Mkhitaryan has been for months.

Used to worry Mkhitaryan might be the new Nani. At this point I’d absolutely take that.

Much like Paul Pogba’s absence has had a detrimental impact on Lukaku’s scoring return, one fan believes that Mkhitaryan is also directly suffering as a result.
Mkhitaryan benefitted so much from opposition players being dragged towards Pogba & leaving space, without it he's been pointless

While the 28-year-old flounders, an impressive Anthony Martial is often restricted to substitute appearances, something that this fan has found frustrating following the Frenchman’s match-winning goal against Tottenham Hotspur last week.
Unreal header and ball. Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been poor once again while inform Anthony Martial sits on the bench. This is so annoying 🤬.

Mourinho needs to get Mkhitaryan off. He's a passenger at the moment. Not an attacking threat and too lightweight as third midfielder.

That Mkhitaryan sub was 60 minutes too late
