Manchester United are busy planning for next summer with rumours continuing as to whom Jose Mourinho may be after to further strengthen his squad as he aims to return Manchester United to the summit of English football.
United defender Eric Bailly has offered his opinion on whom Mourinho should be signing and has recommended his International teammate, Ivory Coast international midfielder Franck Kessie.
The 20-year-old has been scouted by both Chelsea and Real Madrid and currently plays for Atlanta having made the move to Italy in August 2015.
The Sun reports Mourinho had sent scouts to the African Cup of Nations to watch the highly rated youngster.
A United source stated the following:
“Bailly has flagged his international pal Kessie to the club. He thinks he could be the new Yaya.
“He was watched during the AFCON and they like what they see. There is other clubs looking at him as well.”
Juventus and Inter Milan are rumoured to be chasing the players signature keeping a close eye on the Serie A player who has helped Atalanta climb to fifth in the table.
He has made 14 appearances and scored five goals, and has received praise in being regarded as the new Yaya Toure, his fellow countryman.
Kessie spoke this week of interest in him as Antonio Conte’s Chelsea became the latest club to show interest.
“I am very flattered clubs of this level are interested in me.
“This proves that I’m having a good season, that I continue to progress. I don’t want to go too fast.
“I don’t know if my club has received any offers. I’m under contract. We’ll see if we need to discuss anything.
“I like Bergamo. The city is nice, quiet and I appreciate life in Italy, where I was well received.”
Manchester United will need to act on the advice of Eric Bailly quickly as more and more clubs start to take notice of the youngster whose reputation in the game is growing rapidly.
