Can Celtic spring a very unlikely shock against the giants of Paris Saint Germain?
A win at the Parc Des Princes would guarantee Brendan Rodgers’ men Europa League football in the new year. The underdogs certainly went about it the right way in tonight’s Group B clash.
Celtic responded to their 5-0 home thumping served by Mbappe and co. in dramatic fashion.
A corner ball was sent along the floor to the edge of the box by Olivier Ntcham just 50 seconds in. The set piece found star striker and fellow Frenchman Moussa Dembele.
While his shot was well hit, it went towards the centre of Alphonse Areola’s goal. However, it was enough to score on his compatriot, who spilled the ball in very unflattering fashion.
Although a dream start, it was nigh-on impossible that Celtic would hold out for the remaining ninety minutes. Conceding just nine minutes later would have greatly disappointed the SPL kings though.
Adrien Rabiot marauded through midfield, finding the incomparable Neymar at the edge of the box. The Brazilian took a touch and coolly slotted it home in the far corner, heralding his sixth goal in six games against the Celts.
Neymar soon followed up with a second, with Rabiot again involved in the build up.
Subsequent goals from Kylian Mbappe and Edinson Cavani mean that Celtic are, extraordinarily, 4-1 down within 40 minutes after their opening salvo.
With a win, PSG would top Group B, allowing them to approach the final group game against Bayern Munich in any fashion they wish.
