Watch: Aiden McGeady Sends Irish Management Loud Message With Screamer

With Ireland just one step away from reaching the World Cup, all the talk is about attacking midfielders James McClean and Robbie Brady, who for the most part appeared on the flanks throughout the campaign. However, Aiden McGeady is still doing the business, and could yet have a role to play in next month’s crucial ties.

McGeady, so often the cause of frustration for Ireland fans due to the lack of an end product, or indeed his promise at club level not transferring over into his performances in green.

However, he has made an impressive start to life in Sunderland. The Stadium of Light faithful are impressed with the Ireland international’s displays, and why wouldn’t they be if he keeps banging in the goals like this?

McGeady rattled the net from outside the area today to earn the Black Cats a draw with Queens Park Rangers at home today, and what a strike it was!

The former Celtic winger is in flying form, and may yet feature in next month’s play-off with one of Italy, Croatia, Denmark and Switzerland.

While he featured at times throughout the Group D campaign, he never put in a defining performance like in the Euro 2016 qualifiers to suggest he should have a starting place nailed down. Nonetheless, if he keeps performing like this, the Irish management may have no choice but to put him in!
