Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather has responded to the UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor’s claim that he will win their heavily rumoured but yet to be confirmed boxing match via stoppage.
Mayweather is a man who looks set to earn himself one serious pay check within the next few months. After over a year of near-constant speculation, it is finally looking like the former five-weight world champion boxer will end his retirement to take on the UFC’s lightweight champion, Conor McGregor, in one final boxing matchup.
McGregor, who of course resides within the world of mixed martial arts, has never once competed as a professional boxer but despite this fact has now found himself on a collision course with the man who many consider to be among the greatest to ever do it in Mayweather.
Earlier this month, McGregor made a rare public appearance cornering his fellow Irishman Michael Conlan as he made his pro-boxing debut, and in true McGregor fashion used that opportunity to speak briefly on the contest he has been heavily linked to in recent times.
McGregor’s claim that he will ‘shock the world’ has, of course, been met with a mixed response from both the MMA and boxing communities but Floyd Mayweather himself, despite being regarded as a heavy favourite going into this hypothetical matchup, has taken a surprisingly level-headed stance on the Notorious One’s prediction.
