Tony Bellew Explains Motivation For Fighting David Haye In Rematch

Tony Bellew and David Haye will face off once again in December, after their entertaining brawl in March. While Bellew caused an upset in the first clash, Haye believes that he can set the record straight, as he sustained an injury to his Achilles during the sixth round.

Both fighters earned a handsome payday. ‘The Hayemaker’ immediately called for a rematch, but he had fears that Bellew would refuse, given his financial stability.

At yesterday’s press conference, Haye questioned Bellew’s motivation for the second fight, and the ‘Bomber’ made no bones about why he was going to step into the ring once again.

“What motivates me? What motivated me the first time – just to get home safely. It was always the same in the first fight. I fight because, believe it or not, I actually enjoy fighting.

“I admit I have a screw loose, but I enjoy having a fight.

“I don’t enjoy the 12 week build up. I don’t enjoy losing a load of weight or whatever it is I’ve got to do in camp.

“But [on] fight night, I love it. I love walking to the ring. I love punching you in the face. I love getting punched in the face.

“Some of the stupidestĀ and craziest things I enjoy doing.”

The rematch takes place on December 17, and if the first bout is anything to go by, this is going to be a cracker.
