Shane joined Liverpool FC Academy when he was 16, spending three very enjoyable years there before joining Ipswich Town to play under his childhood hero Roy Keane. Shane captained the reserve team in his first season before going on to become an ever-present in the first team for the second half of the 2009/10 season. Shane was at Ipswich for just short of three years and he would consider it the most enjoyable experience of his footballing career. Shane subsequently moved back to Ireland to play for Cork City and Shamrock Rovers amongst others. He now plays for Cobh Ramblers. Shane has also featured for Ireland at under 15,16,17,18,19 and U21 levels.
